The mission of the Charity organisation Serbs for Serbs in Norway is to affect on the consciousness of Norwegians, Serbs and their friends through planned projects, social and humanitarian activities in order to develop and foster a better society for future generations and provide aid for underprivileged families in need.
Although there are many humanitarian organisations and associations, help often doesn’t reach the most jeopardised. Due to unnecessary administration, missing information and slow decision making, the delivery of aid arrives too late to the final consumers , or not at all. It is a sad and embarrassing, but true fact that more than 18.000 children daily die around the world because of starvation and malnutrition. There, among us, the blind and deaf.
Serbs for Serbs worldwide
Our organisation is independent, but it is part of the brand that exists worldwide. At the moment there are 10 registered “Serbs for Serbs” in Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, USA, Canada, Sweden and Norway. We all contribute as much as we can and together we make great things happen. Our friends in USA are proudly holding a status of 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organisation as well as the CRA not-for-profit status in Canada.
How does it work?
In our organisation everyone is a volunteer and we spend all of our finances for the help, except of minor costs for the events that we organise, including the bank account expenses. Our partner organisation in Serbia is actively visiting families that are applying for help and taking care of the list of 400 families that we plan to help over the next years. “SfS” from around the world is making campaigns and collecting finances for those families. Once we transfer the raised money to Serbia, we receive receipts for each item that has been purchased as well as the report of the delivered donation that consists of photos, video, scanned bills and text.
Who do we help?
We are aware that we are not able to resolve everyone’s situation. However, we are giving our best to improve the quality of the children’s life in the region that we are coming from. Unfortunately, families that suffer the most in Balkans are those ones with many children. Our organisation tends to help families with four kids or more, but our primary parameters are life conditions and urgency.
Why don’t we send money to families in need?
Since our organisation is 100% transparent, we want to make sure that your donations are being used for the exact purpose. Unfortunately, by sending the money directly to a family in need we cannot be sure that this money is going to be used for the original purpose. We speak with the families about most urgent things they would need in order to improve their life conditions or what would help them to start making an income (working tools, tractors, agriculture facilities, etc.) so they can have a fresh start and make enough for living in the long term.
Transparency
“Serbs for Serbs” is a fully transparent organisation. In every moment you can take a look at the money flow of our organisation which includes all ins and outs from our bank account. The money flow base is being updated daily. The grid that you can easily access through our website contains the flow of all of our partner organisations as well (SfS brand organisations from other countries). We possess every single bill for the help we deliver, and it is available for everyone to control at any time.
We are united by the humane idea to help the poorest part of our nation and we are very grateful to all our friends that are helping us in this mission.
